By volunteering with Union-Snyder CAA, you are taking direct action in improving your local community and empowering your neighbors. Our volunteers have the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on individuals' lives through a variety of ways. Every task - no matter how big - has a significant effect on creating opportunity for residents of Union and Snyder Counties.

Year round, CAA has a variety of opportunities available that requires volunteer help. Browse the positions below to find a fit for you or your group!

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

 

  • What: Volunteers are professionally trained by the IRS to provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. 

  • Who: Anyone over the age of 18 years old can become a volunteer with the VITA program. 

  • When: VITA appointments typically begin in February and last through mid-April (tax day). VITA volunteers can work with the VITA Coordinator to set their own schedule.

  • Where: VITA appointments take place in Selinsgrove and Lewisburg locations.

  • How: Please email info@union-snydercaa.org. A CAA staff member will be in touch with you shortly. 

Food Program Volunteer

CAA manages multiple food programs that need volunteers, including the Food Hub located in the Miller Center for Recreation & Wellness in Lewisburg and four state-funded food pantries located in Lewisburg, Mifflinburg, Selinsgrove, and McClure. Volunteer opportunities at CAA's food programs include packing food boxes, assisting at food distributions, and preparing donated produce.
